Dear Families
St John the Baptist Catholic School Colour Fun Run
We wish to thank the St John the Baptist Catholic School community for their great support of the Colour Fun Run held on Friday 15th September. We would particularly like to thank the parents who volunteered their time to assist on the day. It was a wonderful afternoon enveloped in a great sense of community spirit.
We kindly ask that once all donations have been collected that each family make one payment per child via the Qkr! App by tomorrow, Friday 29th September. The children will then be entered into the appropriate draw for a chance to win a Rebel Sport voucher. Winners will be drawn and announced at the first assembly of Term 4.
Catholic Schools Music Festival
The Senior Choir students (Years 5 and 6) will perform at the Catholic Schools Music Festival this evening. This annual event is always a fantastic showcase of the musical abilities of students in Catholic schools. The St John the Baptist Senior Choir students will be joined on stage by hundreds of children from Catholic schools around South Australia who perform a program of songs they have been rehearsing over the past three terms. Well done to the following students and their Choir Trainers, Antonietta Caruana and Loretta De Palma. A fantastic effort by all involved!

Sports Day
A reminder that Sports Day will be held in Week 1 of Term 4, Friday 20th October. Please note that this year we will again return to the SA Athletics Stadium at Mile End. Communication regarding the day has been previously sent home. We ask that you read through this information carefully and we look forward to a great community day filled with spirit!
Anzac Highway Properties- Update
Pre work including soil testing and surveying has commenced on the land to be developed along Anzac Highway with a greater construction presence to occur in the coming weeks. At this point in time, works on the development will begin in October and run throughout Term 4 with the project estimated to be complete just prior to Christmas. This is great news, as it means the new play space and car park will be in use from the commencement of the 2024 school year.
Due to the scope of the works, there will at some point in the project be a need to close off access to the Anzac Highway car park. We will keep you updated prior to this, so you are able to make alternative arrangements.
School Uniform
A reminder that the School Summer Uniform is to be worn from the beginning of Term 4.
Please find the School Uniform Guidelines for the summer uniform here.
As the term ends, we wish all students, their families and the staff of St John the Baptist Catholic School the very best for the term break.
Best wishes
Leadership Team
Enrolments for siblings to start in 2025 are now urgently overdue.
Please contact the front office on 8218 3300 or download a copy of the enrolment form here.
Scroll into Spring
Today we had our fundraising initiative with the delicious scrolls made by Jo Fitzgerald. Students received and enjoyed their orders at their allocated recess time. The money raised will be donated to Catholic Charities.
Thank you once again for your support and generosity.
Mass & Liturgy
We have enjoyed the opportunity for the school community and parish to connect through Wednesday morning Mass, followed by morning tea. Next term we will continue to celebrate year level Mass for Reception, Year 1 and Year 4, with the parish following an open morning.
As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to say a big congratulations as we have made our way through an eventful term. This term had significant celebrations within our Church’s liturgical calendar but also in the school community with St Mary MacKillop’s Feast Day, the Assumption of Mary into heaven, and the celebration of Sacraments for the children in our school. It feels like quite an accomplishment to look back and see how far we have come!
Wishing you all a restful break, ready for the final term of 2023.

All the Year 3 -6’s walked to Plympton Oval on Thursday 14th September for our Sports Day / Athletics time trials.

A big thank you to the parents who volunteered to help walk the children to and from Plympton Oval.
Westies Cup
St John the Baptist Catholic School sent 2 teams of Yr.5 & 6 Boys to play Aussie Rules in the Westies Cup that was held at Richmond Oval on Tuesday 19th September.

As it worked out the two St John the Baptist Catholic School teams ended up playing against each other in the 3rd versus 4th final – a close match entailed!

St John the Baptist School provides a safe environment for all while valuing the partnership between school and home.
As a Catholic community, we welcome and value volunteers. To be able to volunteer, and/or attend at other times throughout the school year, we ask that you hold a current Catholic Police Check (parents/caregivers attending excursions, reading in class, helping in class, attending community events), a current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect in Education and Care for Volunteers certificate, have completed the volunteers application package and your COVID vaccination certificate.
A Catholic Police Check for volunteers is free for our current parents and caregivers. Application Forms are available in our school office.
This process ensures we maintain a child safe environment. To avoid disappointment, we encourage you to apply for a Catholic Police Check through the school office as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school office on 8218 3300 or email Francis Schulz on fschulz@stjohnpl.catholic.edu.au .
