Dear Families
Welcome to Term 3
On Tuesday 25th July we welcomed 19 new students to the school as part of the mid year Reception intake. It has been wonderful to witness their smooth and settled transition into the school and we look forward to their active contribution to the St John the Baptist Catholic School community for many years to come.
A very warm welcome is extended to: Evie A, Mehtab, Oliver, Jude, Matilda, Liaden, Louie, Johan, Isabella l, Isabella P, Ayen, Raghav, Evie S, Marley, Leo, Asher, Charlie, Angus and Ivana.
We also welcomed Ninel (Year 6) and Eddie (Year 5) into the school. It is great to have you here.
Building Opening
On Tuesday we celebrated a significant school event when we officially opened and blessed the new building. The celebration was presided over by Archbishop O’Regan and the plaque unveiled by the Hon Blair Boyer, MP - Minister for Education, Training and Skills. They were joined by the Chair of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools, Mr John Neate and the Executive Director of Catholic Education, Dr Neil McGoran and a number of invited guests. Many of the guests commented positively on the ceremony, the exemplary behaviour of the children and also their beautiful singing. Thank you to all involved either on the day or in the lead up to the event. It was a wonderful community celebration.
Live Learn Lead Survey
Once again this year, the school will conduct the Living Leading Learning Surveys to examine the understanding of the vision and extent to which CESA’s Living Learning Leading Framework is taking place in schools: staff, student and family perceptions.
The surveys will be based around 4 components-
- Catholic Identity
- Curriculum
- Student agency, identity, learning and leadership
- Community engagement
Data from the surveys will assist the school to develop plans for improvement.
The survey suite consists of:
- Student Survey - Years 2-6
- Parent and Caregivers Survey
- Staff survey
You can access the Parent and Caregiver survey at the following link: www.NSIPartnerships.com.au and enter the code: SJBPLLLP in the “Start Questionnaire” field. Further information can be found here.
Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop
On Tuesday 8th August we will celebrate as a whole school community, the Feast of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop. A whole school liturgy will be held in the Church at 9:10am and all are welcome to attend.
At this special occasion we acknowledge Mary’s impact through the Sisters of St Joseph, the religious order founded by Mary and who were instrumental in establishing our school as it stands today.
School Concert
The School Concert will be held on Thursday evening, 17 August at 7:00pm at the Christian Family Centre, Frederick Road, Seaton. Each class will perform an Australian Themed act that they have been preparing for during their Expressive Arts lessons with Nat Weber. We look forward to a fun and entertaining evening!
Best wishes,
Leadership Team

School Building Opening
On Tuesday 1st August at 10am, Archbishop Patrick O’Reagan joined us in a special liturgy and ceremony to bless our new school building. The community and distinguished guests celebrate this momentous occasion by gathering at St John the Baptist Church.
Mary MacKillop Feast Day
As a Josephite school, we have a special connection to St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. In Week 2 of this term, our school will be holding a liturgy in commemoration of Mary MacKillop Feast Day which falls on 8th August. The liturgy will be held in St John the Baptist Church at 9.10am and will be led by our Year 6 leaders. Families are welcome to attend.
Open Mornings and Mass
This term we are looking forward to continuing our celebrations of the Eucharist by joining the parish at weekday Mass. Years 2, 3 and 5 will host an Open Morning, followed by a communal gathering for Mass at 9:30am. Please see the term calendar for dates. These mornings provide a wonderful opportunity for the gathering of the school and parish community.

St John the Baptist School provides a safe environment for all while valuing the partnership between school and home.
As a Catholic community, we welcome and value volunteers. To be able to volunteer, and/or attend at other times throughout the school year, we ask that you hold a current Catholic Police Check (parents/caregivers attending excursions, reading in class, helping in class, attending community events), a current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect in Education and Care for Volunteers certificate, have completed the volunteers application package and your COVID vaccination certificate.
A Catholic Police Check for volunteers is free for our current parents and caregivers. Application Forms are available in our school office.
This process ensures we maintain a child safe environment. To avoid disappointment, we encourage you to apply for a Catholic Police Check through the school office as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school office on 8218 3300 or email Francis Schulz on fschulz@stjohnpl.catholic.edu.au .
